Alison Kershaw

I trained at Falmouth School of Art, where I specialised in film, installation and performance.  My interest was in time and memory, environment and representation.  Initially, St Lukes Art Project was an artist-in-residence scheme and has grown into a multi-faceted open studio, employing a number of artists and offering facilities and support for local people to get involved.

For me, St. Luke's Art Project is the major work of art of my practice.  It is work that can't be pinned down, always changing and growing along with the people involved.

I've been working on a number of other projects in the local area, including acting as a contemporary art curator for Victoria Baths Trust, commissioning new work from local, national and international artists. I've also work with other commissioners and galleries including FACT in Liverpool, Heart of Glass in St Helens and Castlefield Gallery in Manchester

As part of my role at St Luke's Art Project, I'm also working with Pool Arts, an exciting artists collective that runs a gallery in a garden SHED and has a studio in Ardwick, where members can share space and receive mentoring, training and hold exhibitions. Find out more at Pool Arts
